Adult dating is somewhat of a misnomer. I mean, teenagers and youngsters don't really date in my opinion. At least not the majority. What they do is some sort of playing around, exploring, finding oneself while finding others at the same time. Perhaps those that are nearing their twenties are dating, so my classificatory declaration could be a bit imprecise, but the point remains. Adult dating could be merely called dating, but my sister demanded that I always refer to the activity as adult dating so as not to attract attention or ever be accused of pedophilia. I thought it was absurd, but she had recently become paranoid due to a co-worker who had supposedly found passion in amoral and unlawful activities. She was upset by this, and rightly so. He had even been found guilty in a court of law, which was a bit of relief considering that the law doesn't always work in the way that it should or in the way that it's supposed to. The poor boy was a bit confused by all the attention, and didn't really understand the full implications of what had happened to him. Luckily nothing serious happened to the boy, and he was freed from the plans of the pedophile before he had become a victim to anything more than the man's imagination. However, he had attempted to portray himself as innocently lovable to the boy with no harmful intentions. Luckily the boy's mother had schooled him to be weary of friendly adults, especially when they asked for secrets to be held. The mother told the boy 'I adore you my son. And if anyone else says anything like this to you, please know that their intentions are not good as mine are. Please tell me at once.' This is what he did, and hence the boy was saved from a lifetime of pain. And consequently, this was the very same reason that my sister from now on demanded that dating, at least honest and well-intentioned dating, be called adult dating. She did not want any reminders of the evils of the world. I wondered, since then, if she was being protected from something she should be consciously confronting. Avoidance was never a good thing, was it? I wondered what the change in terminology would actually do, besides allow her to ignore the evil realities in the world. Regardless, I have since become used to the whole game.
